Please be assured we respect your personal information and do not disclose this to others. All staff are bound by patient confidentially rules.

Yes, but this is subject to NHS funding, equipment and expertise limitations. Please note that the NHS treatment is restricted to treatment deemed essential in the opinion of the treating dentists. The NHS does not provide for

  1. Cosmetic treatment – stain removal, teeth whitening, smile design.
  2. Adult orthodontics
  3. Implants – which enables a whole new world of treatment options.
  4. Complex treatment as opposed to basic essential treatment

For treatments also available under the NHS, private options provide for

  1. Upgraded materials/branded products are used.
  2. Techniques- more demanding and time consuming
  3. Technicians- Different/ specialised technicians often utilised
  4. Equipment- especially at Golders Green e.g powerful loops and lighting for higher precision work, lasers, complex equipment for root canal work etc.
  5. Experience and Expertise- Dr Thakerar accepts new patients privately and for complex work. These patients are often treated at GG which is equipped appropriately. Dr Thakerar has a special interest in cosmetics, root canal treatment and implants 9link to testimonials)
  6. Convenience- we provide Saturday AM appointments at our Golders Green branch.

In addition to the above options, cosmetic treatments, adult orthodontics (braces), implants and sedation in surgery can only be provided on a private basis as no NHS funding is available for this.

Yes, if NHS funding is unavailable.

  1. If you miss, cancel or do not attend for treatment on more than two occasions. Under these circumstances we may refuse to see you further under NHS. If we do elect to see you , it may be only for emergency appointments or treatment under our 'short notice appointment basis' when it is convenient to us. This only affects a tiny minority of patients.

In the event of an emergency, please ring the Harrow practice for further instructions on 020 8427 1627. Emergency cover by the "on-call" dentist is available from 9am to 9pm everday of the week.

We personally endavour to see all emergencies at our practice on the same day, if it is reported during our opening hours. Alternativly you can call the emergency NHS number on 111.

Yes, we provide wheel-chair access at and we have a disabled toilet at the practice.
